Emergencies come
in many shapes and sizes, but, here on the coast, the primary threat
to residents and visitors are tsunamis, earthquakes, and severe winter
storms. The City has developed emergency response plans in conjunction
with other local governments which include an emergency evacuation plan;
emergency medical caches stored in various locations throughout the
City; satellite telephone service for disaster use by emergency crews;
emergency gas pump power sources to keep police vehicles and emergency
equipment operational; cooperative agreements with the County, the Fire
Department and other emergency responders; Red
Cross shelters throughout the City and Arch Cape; evacuation
routes; and Tsunami refuge
areas. For information on Floods,
