The Cannon Beach
Police Department fully embraces the philosophy of Community Oriented
Policing and recognizes the absolute need for continual
and direct community involvement concerning law enforcement and public
safety and welfare in the City of Cannon Beach. Therefore, the purpose
of the Community Policing Team is to provide a mechanism for systematically
encouraging and expanding citizen participation in the problem identification
and problem solving process. The Community
Policing Team represents
a working partnership dedicated to protecting and improving the quality
of life shared in our community.
Composition: The
Community Policing Team is comprised of five (5) at-large community
representatives
and the Chief of Police, Cannon Beach Police Department. The community
representatives are volunteers selected by the Chief of Police who are
willing to contribute their time and experience to further
community safety and welfare.
Meetings: The team holds periodic meetings, normally occurring every other month
on the last Tuesday of the applicable month at 6:00 p.m. in the City
Hall Conference Room. The meeting months are January, March, May, July,
September, and November. The meeting agendas normally includes the following:
• Items submitted
by team members for review and discussion.
• Items submitted by the Chief of Police for review and discussion.
Participation: All
team members function as community representatives with a willingness
to embrace and promote the community policing philosophy as it applies
to the City of Cannon Beach. Team members will assist with community
education and the furtherance of proactive community partnerships that
will be beneficial in assessing the needs, desires, and expectations
of our community. Team members will seek community concerns, opinions,
and suggestions for the purpose of bringing such information to the attention
of the Chief of Police.
